Dance Classes:

Pre-Dance Combo 3-4 yrs.

Promoting imagination this class combines Pre-Ballet & Tumbling to learn basic ballet skills, terminology, rhythm, listening skills and coordination, through creative expression, movement, music, and mime in a supportive and supervised environment while building physical ability. Tumbling will include somersaults, rolls, jumps, etc. As the year progress students will increase their balance, coordination, and grace. Students develop classroom discipline, body awareness and control while exploring their own creativity.

Beginning Ballet I 5-7 yrs.

Basic Ballet warm ups, Barre work and choreography, will be taught.

Beginning Tumble 6-12 yrs.

This is a class for the inexperienced tumbler. Students will get an introductory to tumbling positions, drills, and movements such as tuck, straddle, bridge, handstand, forward roll, and cartwheel along with some strengthening and flexibility.

Beginning Ballet 8-12 yrs.(Ballet I & II)

This is a class for students who are new or returning to ballet with less than 2 years experience. Students will learn ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility.

Intermediate & Advanced Ballet (Ballet II &III)

Provides students with a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of classical ballet technique. Encourages students to achieve a significant level of self-discipline, physical control and flexibility, and correct body placement and alignment. Students will learn to develop a sincere appreciation of the historical contributions of ballet to the overall development of dance as an art form.

Beginning Tap (I)

This class teaches rhythm, coordination, and an introduction to basic tap fundamentals and terminology.

Intermediate Tap (II & II)

This class is designed to refine tap skills, while moving beyond the fundamentals of tap. Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations. Students will also learn different styles of tap such as Stomp, Showboat, and Rhythmic. The dancer will develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute to complex rhythmic combinations.

Jazz (Jazz I-III)

Emphasis is placed on appropriate technique of jazz dance skills and its application in the development of rhythm, syncopation, coordination, musicality, and variation of style. Coordination of these elements will focus on increasing body strength, flexibility and kinesthetic awareness. Students will study current and traditional jazz vocabulary and styles.

Hip Hop

This class teaches rhythm, coordination, and age-appropriate hip hop choreography with no suggestive music/movements. Jr. Hip Hop is upbeat and great for kids who like to move. This is an excellent class for high-energy kids who want to take a fast and fun dance class.

Jr. Sr. Applause

The competition teams requires a strong commitment, hard work, dedication, a passion for dance, and a drive for self improvement. Being part of the Sr. Applause competition team is an experience your child won't forget and the friendships they develop are priceless. Sr. Applause members are required to take one Ballet class and either Jazz or hip hop.

Intro to Polynesian Dance (Hula)

This class is a beginner introduction to Polynesian Dances focusing mainly in Hula.
Polynesian dances are known for their enchanting beauty and charm. Props like Sea shells, Coconut Halves(polished coconut halves used as a percussion dance instrument), Maori poi balls, Uli uli (feathered rattles), Ipu (single hand-held calabash gourd), Pu ili (split bamboo sticks), are used in same of the dances to emphasize the beautiful songs. Hula is a form of dance where slow and graceful movements emphasize the hips and hands. The choreography of the dance tell the stories about everyday life in Hawaii. Beautiful dresses and skirts partnered with colorful flower headdresses are characteristic of Hula dance.

Adult Ballet

Our adult Ballet class is a great way to stay in shape, have fun, and participate in an exciting and accessible style of dance.

Drama Classes:

Let's Pretend 5-7 yrs.

This class will explore the artistic use of imagination, vocal production and communication in a fun filled, supportive environment. Students develop confidence and self assurance through theater games, improvisation and storytelling.

Drama 8 yrs. & Up

This class is a progression of theater study, beginning with developing the actors tools: voice, body and imagination. It will include theater games and improvisation exercises, progressing into scripted work. It will include individual and ensemble work. We will also cover audition techniques for plays and multi- media.

Musical Theatre

Musical theatre is a form of theatre that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Students will learn basic muscial theatre dance moves, basic vocal training, and learn basic acting and musical theatre performance techniques.
